Cookie policy

This site uses one kind of optional cookie - Google Analytics - and only if you say yes. Here's exactly what it does and how to change your mind.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Some are essential for a site to work; others, like analytics cookies, are optional and need your permission first.

Your choice

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you're happy for me to use analytics cookies. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and nothing optional is set until you choose.

To remember your answer, your browser stores it on your device (in "local storage", under the name cookie-consent). This isn't sent to me or anyone else, and is strictly necessary for the banner to work.

Spam protection on the contact form (strictly necessary)

The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that messages come from people, not spam bots. It collects technical signals from your browser to do this, and may store small amounts of data on your device while it runs. Cloudflare describes these as strictly necessary for detecting and blocking bots, and uses them only for security - not for advertising. Because they're needed for the form to work safely, they don't require your consent. Turnstile only loads once you start filling in the contact form.

Analytics cookies (optional)

If you accept, Google Analytics sets the cookies below so I can see how many people visit, which pages they read and how they found the site. If you reject, or later withdraw consent, Google Analytics stops and these cookies are deleted.

Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics
NameWhat it's forHow long it lasts
_gaTells visits apart so visitor numbers aren't double-counted2 years
_ga_<ID>Remembers the current visit (session) for Google Analytics2 years

These cookies are provided by Google. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google's privacy policy. Google also offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics on every site.

Other ways to control cookies

Most browsers let you see, block and delete cookies in their settings. Blocking all cookies may stop some websites working properly, but this site will work fine without them.
